Subscription Plan Details

The Subscription plan details app block shows the terms of the subscription plan a customer selects on the product page. It covers what they pay and when, the plan they chose, how much they save, and whether the plan renews. It also links to your subscription policy.

Shopify asks subscription stores to show these terms on the product page, close to the Add to cart button. This block shows them for you and updates as customers change their selection. It stays hidden while One-time purchase is selected.

Before you begin

  • Install Awtomic and assign at least one Awtomic subscription plan to the product. See Assigning subscription plans to products.
  • Use a theme that supports app blocks (an Online Store 2.0 theme).
  • Add your subscription policy in Shopify admin under Settings → Policies → Subscription policy, if you haven't already. The block links to it.
  • Customers choose a plan with the Subscription Widget or your theme's own subscription picker. The block also follows a plan preselected with a ?selling_plan= link.

Add the block to your theme

  1. In Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes and click Customize on the theme you want to update.
  2. Open the product template, for example Products → Default product.
  3. In the product information section, click Add block and select Awtomic's Subscription plan details from the Apps list.
  4. Drag the block below the Subscription Widget and above the Add to cart button.
  5. Configure the settings described below, then click Save.
📘

Keep the block in the product section

Place the block in the same section as the product's variant picker and Add to cart button. The block reads the selected variant and plan from that section's product form.

In the theme editor, a dashed placeholder marks the block's position while no subscription plan is selected. Customers don't see the placeholder.

On product templates, the block uses the product being viewed. On other pages, such as a landing page with a featured product section, choose the product in the block's Product setting.

The block uses your theme's fonts and colors: a bold headline followed by lighter detail lines.

What customers see

When a customer selects a subscription, the block shows up to five lines:

  1. Heading, if you set one.
  2. Headline: what the customer pays, in bold.
  3. Detail line: the plan name, followed by the per-delivery price for single-order prepaid plans and the savings.
  4. Does not renew, for single-order prepaid plans only.
  5. Description: the plan's Supporting text, if it has any.

The policy link appears below these lines.

The headline depends on the plan type:

Recurring$27.00 per deliveryDelivery every month, save 10%
Recurring with a different first-order priceFirst payment $20.00, then $27.00Delivery every month, save 25% on first order, then 10%

  • The block updates when the customer changes the plan, frequency or variant, and hides when they switch to One-time purchase.
  • Savings appear for percentage and fixed-amount discounts. Plans that set a fixed price, such as multi-order prepaid plans, show no savings.
  • The plan description is the Supporting text in the plan's Supportive Information section, under Tools → Subscription Plans in Awtomic.
  • Plans used only at checkout, such as Card Vaulting and allocation plans, never show details.
  • The generated lines appear in English, Spanish or French to match your storefront's language. Your heading, link text, plan names and Supporting text appear as you entered them.

Test your setup

  1. Open a product with Awtomic subscription plans in your storefront or theme preview.
  2. With One-time purchase selected, confirm the block is hidden.
  3. Select a subscription and confirm the headline, plan name and savings match the plan.
  4. Change the frequency and the variant, and confirm the details update each time.
  5. If you sell prepaid plans, select one and confirm the total and the number of deliveries are correct.
  6. Click the policy link and confirm it opens your subscription policy.
