Gift Form

The Gift form app block lets customers buy a prepaid subscription as a gift. It adds a This is a gift checkbox to your product page. When the customer checks it, a form asks for the recipient's name and email address and an optional gift note.

Awtomic uses this information to send the gift note and subscription emails to the recipient, who can then manage the gift subscription. See Gift subscriptions for how gift subscriptions work after purchase.

Before you begin

  • Set up a multi-order prepaid plan that does not auto-renew and turn on Enable gifting on this prepaid plan in its prepaid terms. See Gift subscriptions and Single-order vs multi-order prepaid plans.
  • Assign the plan to the product you want to sell as a gift.
  • Use a theme that supports app blocks (an Online Store 2.0 theme).
  • Add the Subscription Widget block to the same product page. By default, the gift form appears only when the customer selects a giftable plan in the widget.

Add the block to your theme

  1. In Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes and click Customize on the theme you want to update.
  2. Open the product template used by your gift product.
  3. In the product information section, click Add block and select Awtomic's Gift form from the Apps list.
  4. Drag the block below the Subscription Widget and above the Add to cart button.
  5. Configure the settings described below, then click Save.
📘

Keep the block in the product section

Place the Gift form in the same section as the Subscription Widget and the Add to cart button. The form reads the selected plan and adds the recipient details to the product in that section.
