Setting up billing schedules (Subscription Plans)
What days of the year, or on what frequency do you want club members billed
In Awtomic, the way we define how and when clubs will be billed is in the tool called "Subscription Plans." You can get there by going to Awtomic -> Tools -> Subscription Plans.
When you create a subscription plan, you define the single frequency and billing schedule for traditional clubs, or the multiple offered frequencies for a subscription club. This is also where you can create prepaid plans for prepaid gift wine clubs, which we'll discuss in another section.
Traditional Clubs:
1.) Give the Subscription Plan a nickname that you can recognize and a display name that customers can see - like "Quarterly shipments (February, May, August, December)"
To configure the billing schedule for traditional club, we'll want to enalbe a few important settings in the subscription plan:
2.) Set a single frequency that is the closest to the gap between your shipment dates. It doesn't hav to be exact, for example - if you do club shipments quarterly, you can do 3 months, and if you do club shipments twice a year, you can do 6 months.
3.) Go to the "Batching" setting at the bottom and enable the batching setting. Then select "yearly" in the dropdown. From here you can select the month and day of each club run for the year.
4.) Save the Subscription Plan - no need to add any products in this step.
Subscription Clubs:
1.) Give the Subscription Plan a nickname that you can recognize and a display name that customers can see - like "Flexible Subscription"
2.) Set as many frequency options as you'd like to offer. we recommend keeping the options around 3 to reduce decision fatigue for customers when they are purchasing. You can define frequencies in days, weeks, months or years
3.) You can optionally set a discount if you'd like to incentivize people to subscribe (vs buy one-time). If you are incentivizing people to buy a certain number of bottles, we recommend NOT setting the discount here, but configuring it as part of the club contents and size requirements in the next step.
4.) Save the Subscription Plan - no need to add any products in this step.
In the next step we'll configure our club contents and size requirements.
